A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

You would think that Prom season is the best time for a teenager. Shopping
for the best dress or tuxedo, renting a limo or luxury car, trying to
figure out who they are going to go with to the prom and the list goes on.
So now that you have all these things lined up you have your date, outfit
and the nice ride you will be showing off to make your entrance to the
biggest day of your life. Your parents give you the talk on not taking
drugs or leaving your drink anywhere to get spiked and your parents may
talk about abstinent or safe sex precautions if you are sexually active.
However, have your parents gave you the talk on dating violence that teens
might face because during the prom seasons it is very evident that 1 out of
3 teens have been or will be involved in an abusive relationship. In a
study of gay, lesbian and bisexual adolescents, youths involved in same-sex
dating are just as likely to experience dating violence as youths involved
in opposite sex dating. About 40% of teenage girls 14 to 17 say they know
someone their age that has been hit or beaten by a boyfriend. Let this not
be your horror story for prom. Your memories should be precious so parents
talk to your teen, see the signs that they might be in trouble. Helpful

silence and SOUND THE ALARM!!
